WELL BEING PHILOSOPHY

OUR WELLBEING PHILOSOPHY

There is a growing need to support and recognise wellbeing in the workplace. We know when wellbeing is valued it can deliver:

  • Highly engaged workplaces

  • A more inclusive culture

  • Stronger business outcomes

In addition, over the past number of months and prior to the pandemic we have put in place various means of support including:

We want to bring this together to create our best work for today, tomorrow and in the future

Wellbeing is essentially how someone feels about various aspects

of their life – their home life, their health, their relationships with others, their job and other activities. Wellbeing is commonly categorised into four themes:

  • PHYSICAL

  • MENTAL

  • SOCIAL

  • FINANCIAL

Our approach is underpinned by the belief that wellbeing:

  • Begins with the individual and, when achieved, impacts our culture, our families, friends and the larger community.
  • Is self-driven by each employee and can flourish when supported by the business and often the line manager – for us it is not an isolated programme or initiative, it is purpose driven and woven into the fabric of our culture.

The Wellbeing Philosophy reinforces our commitment to inclusion and diversity and is supported by our flex philosophy and our health, safety & wellbeing policy.

THE FOUR THEMES OF WELLBEING

Primarily we believe that we are each accountable for our own wellbeing – we make our own choices. However, embedding a focus on wellbeing into the fabric of our culture requires individuals, managers and leaders to play a key role.

OUR ROLE: WE ARE ALL ACCOUNTABLE

Ultimately, the aim of the Philosophy is to provide frameworks and principles which support all of our people and line managers the world over. We recognise that everyone has different circumstances, needs and conditions to be at their best and our aim is to work together to ensure our roles at Diageo are a fulfilling part of our lives.

A core component of our wellbeing support in Diageo is our Employee Assistance Program. The service is available to all employees worldwide, providing free, confidential counselling and advice 24/7, as well as online resources, to employees and immediate family members on a range of personal, emotional and work-life issues. For your local EAP contact, click here.
